The Voice of the Tenant Survey Scotland is a regular national survey funded by the SafeDeposits Scotland Charitable Trust. It examines tenants' experiences of living in the private rented sector in Scotland, tracking how these experiences evolve over time. It explores key issues such as affordability, security of tenure, and property conditions.

Launched in 2024, the survey will be conducted annually with a new, representative sample of over 1,000 tenants.

Each wave also addresses a key topical issue. In the most recent edition, tenants were asked about their understanding and experience of recent reforms to the private rented sector, as well as their views on proposed future reform.

Read the results of the latest survey by downloading the full report of findings below.

This study complements the Trust's Voice of the Landlord research. Together, these two surveys aim to provide a comprehensive view of sector trends, capturing the perspectives of both tenants and landlords.
